2025 Audi A6 e-tron saloon and Avant exterior and interior design
The new Audi A6 e-tron will get a sleek design with short overhangs and a long wheelbase, designed to make up for the fact that the new car won’t have the tall roofline of a crossover, a shape that makes it easier to hide an EV’s bulk.
What it will have is plenty of aero features. Up front, you’ll get a filled-in grille, intricate headlight designs complete with Audi’s latest LED technology – expect the lights to do a synchronized dance when you lock and unlock the car – and large lower bumper vents that flow air around the car.
In profile, expect the e-tron to have blistered wheel arches, creases in the lower half of the body - designed to disguise the visual weight of the batteries hidden in the floor - and the option to fit (aero-friendly) rear-facing cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors.
Aero will also be a priority at the back, where a moulded boot spoiler, rear diffuser and breakaway edge in the bodywork are designed to reduce turbulence in the Audi’s wake.
Something the e-tron will offer that you won’t find on any of its rivals is the option to have an Avant (estate) body style that’ll make the car better suited to carrying bulky loads.
Inside, the Audi will feel fairly conventional without the flat floor and floating centre console you’ll find in other EVs. Nevertheless, the A6 e-tron will still feel very high-tech inside, with a minimum of two large infotainment screens on show and the option to specify fancy toys like an augmented-reality satnav.
Electric cars with the longest range
2025 Audi A6 e-tron saloon and Avant range and performance
The Audi A6 e-tron is expected to come fitted with a large 100kWh battery that’ll deliver a range of up to 435 miles. Charging speeds of up to 270kW mean you’ll be able to recharge the battery from flat to 80 per cent full in 25 minutes, or add 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Exact details of the A6 e-tron’s specifications have yet to be confirmed, but you’ll likely be able to choose from long range, rear-wheel drive models – complete with a +400-mile range – or high-performance four-wheel drive versions that’ll carry the ‘quattro’ nameplate.
The latter is expected to have an electric motor at the front and the back giving the A6 four-wheel drive and around 476bhp for 0-62mph in less than four seconds.
