This is the all-new Terramar SUV, the fourth Cupra-specific model the brand has unveiled since its amicable split from SEAT back in 2018, following the Cupra Born electric car, Cupra Formentor crossover and Cupra Tavascan electric SUV.
Update: Since this guide was published, we have driven the all-new Cupra Terramar. Click here to read our full Cupra Terramar Review.
Cupra says that the new family sporty SUV will sit at the top of its model line-up and help elevate the brand even further upmarket, reaching new customers and new market segments.

2025 Cupra Terramar: styling and dimensions
Although Terramar is a name that’s completely new to the automotive marketplace, the mechanicals that lay beneath it are not. Underneath the aggressive Cupra-fied bodywork sit the same oily bits that underpin the latest Volkswagen Tiguan compact SUV. And although we’ve not seen the new Cupra in the metal yet, you’d have to suspect that the two cars would be fairly similar in their dimensions.
You can certainly see something of the Tiguan’s overall shape in the Terramar, but the details all over the car are a lot more flamboyant than on the Volkswagen, which couldn’t look more conservative if it were wearing a blue rosette.

At the front, for instance, the Cupra matrix LED Ultra headlights are more angular for an angrier look, while the nose of the car is made even more aggressive-looking by sharply pronounced creases in the bonnet, plus large air intakes that pretty much cover the front end.
Down the side, black-painted alloy wheels add more menace, while deeply recessed areas in the doors accentuate the sills of the car, making it look visually lower and wider. The roofline drops slightly towards the rear of the car, but not to the extent where it makes the Terramar one of those oh-so-fashionable coupe-SUVs.

The intricately detailed rear lights are joined together by an illuminated strip that also incorporates the Cupra badge, while the rear end is finished by a chunky-looking rear diffuser.
Cupra has stated that nine exterior colours will be offered, including two matte options, with flamboyant names such as Enceladus Grey Matt and Century Bronze Matt. Another colour option is called Dark Void, and is taken straight from the firm’s Dark Rebel concept car.
2025 Cupra Terramar: interior design and practicality
Only one image of the Terramar’s interior has been issued, and as you’ll find in Cupra’s other models, there look to be high-grade soft-touch plastics in black and dark colours, while the sporty ambience is accentuated with plenty of trademark bronze-coloured trim elements and other metallic finishes.
Those up front will sit in sporty bucket seats that are upholstered either in SEAQUAL recycled fabric, or in leather that’s been tanned using a plant-based process.
Renault 5 E-Tech: price, specs and release date
There’s a digital driver’s display behind the steering wheel, while the centre of the dashboard houses a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and you’d expect all the usual functionality to be present and correct, such as DAB radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. CUPRA has also announced that its collaboration with Sennheiser is continuing with the Terramar, and the company’s high-grade 12-speaker audio system will be offered.
2025 Cupra Terramar: engines and driving dynamics
Cupra has stated that five powertrain options will be available in the new Terramar, across three varying technology types: petrol engines (TSI), mild hybrid (eTSI) and plug-in hybrid (eHybrid). The power outputs on offer will range from 148bhp to 268bhp, with the top-of-the-range option being the 268hp eHybrid PHEV, which Cupra says has more than 70 miles of all-electric range. Like with the new-generation Tiguan, we expect all versions to be front-wheel drive, with no four-wheel drive option offered.
Not much more is known about the dynamic mechanical makeup of the Terramar, other than that sport suspension will be standard. A dynamic chassis control active suspension and Akebono brakes will also be offered, we suspect as optional extras.
2025 Cupra Terramar: price and release date
There’s been no indication on the pricing of the new Cupra Terramar so far, but we do know that although the Terramar was designed and developed in Barcelona, it’ll be built at Audi’s Gyor plant in Hungary, and production will start before the end of this year. So, expect to see the first cars arriving in the UK at the beginning of 2025.
