Amazing car. Assured drive, GT acceleration is impressive but flip it into Sport+ and it flies. Beautiful looking vehicle from every angle and the Bridgestone 007 tyres a nice little detail.

Aston Martin DB11 (2016-2023) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Combines precise handling and long-distance comfort | Sky-high running costs |
| The V8 is almost as fast as the V12 | The Bentley Continental GT is more luxurious |
| Very well equipped as standard | Early examples are not as good to drive as later cars |
Quick Summary
The Aston Martin DB11 (2016-2023) represents the British marque's ambitious second century plan, introducing a new platform and all-new turbocharged 600bhp engine. Initially, the DB11 faced criticism regarding cabin luxury, ride quality, and the loss of the classic V12 soundtrack. However, Aston Martin addressed these concerns with the 2018 DB11 AMR, which delivered 630bhp, improved ride comfort, a more tuneful engine note, and a more convincing cockpit. The AMR is now the only V12 DB11 offered, establishing the car as a supremely capable and likeable grand tourer.
The DB11 excels as a dynamic grand tourer, combining crisp steering with excellent body control and ride comfort. Both the 503bhp V8 and 630bhp V12 variants deliver crushing straight-line performance, with the V12 AMR reaching 62mph in 3.7 seconds and 208mph. All models feature an eight-speed automatic gearbox and come well specified with heated seats, parking cameras, climate control, and smartphone integration. However, expect sky-high running costs, with V12 models rarely exceeding 20mpg and V8 variants achieving around 22mpg. The dated Mercedes infotainment system is the cabin's only real weakness. Space and practicality are limited, with tiny rear seats best used for luggage storage.
Best for: Buyers seeking a sharply styled, high-performance grand tourer with excellent handling and long-distance capability, and those prioritising driving engagement over ultimate luxury.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those concerned about fuel consumption and running costs, or those requiring spacious rear seating and maximum practicality.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aston Martin DB11 | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 25.8% | 4.1/5 |
| Audi A4 | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 33.7% | 4.4/5 |
| Mercedes C-Class | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 28.6% | 4.3/5 |
| Bentley Continental GT | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 35.3% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the DB11 if: You're seeking a sharply styled, high-performance grand tourer with excellent handling and long-distance capability, and you prioritise driving engagement over ultimate luxury.
Consider alternatives if: You are concerned about fuel consumption and running costs, require spacious rear seating, or prioritise maximum practicality and affordability.
Competitive Position: The Aston Martin DB11 stands as a distinctive grand tourer that prioritises dynamic handling and driving engagement over the outright luxury of rivals like the Bentley Continental GT. Whilst the Bentley offers greater refinement and spaciousness for long-distance travel, the DB11 counters with a sharper edge, superior performance, and a more compelling soundtrack. The improvements made during its production run, particularly with the 2018 AMR variant, transformed the DB11 into one of Aston Martin's finest models. It remains an excellent choice for discerning buyers who value driving dynamics and distinctive styling, though running costs and practicality limitations must be carefully considered.
