I have always loved Audi cars and I think you got a good collection of cars to make a good choice from. Sometimes there are misrepresentations on some cars. you find that the car is manual whereas the details given do not much the pictures of the car. Just something to be mindful of other than that you are excellent

Audi A4 (2016-2024) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Quiet and comfortable on long journeys | Not as engaging to drive as the BMW 3 Series or Jaguar XE |
| Wide range of efficient petrol and diesel engines | The Avant is not as practical as larger estate cars you can buy for similar money |
| Well equipped, even if you choose the base model | Ride comfort suffers with sport suspension |
Quick Summary
The Audi A4 (2016-2024) is a classy and competent compact executive saloon and estate car that represents the fifth and final generation of this popular model. Available as both a four-door saloon and five-door A4 Avant estate, it combines smart styling with a beautifully appointed interior and spacious seating. The A4 offers a broad range of impressively efficient petrol and diesel engines, with the 2.0 TDI Ultra diesel achieving around 50-55mpg in real-world driving, whilst petrol models deliver approximately 40-45mpg. Boot space is generous for the class, matching the BMW 3 Series and exceeding both the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Jaguar XE.
Whilst not as engaging to drive as the BMW 3 Series or as aspirational as the Mercedes C-Class, the A4 excels in comfort and refinement. It features first-class infotainment with the optional Virtual Cockpit digital dial setup, excellent motorway manners, and a firm-but-fair ride quality that sits between the C-Class and 3 Series. The SE trim offers the best value, providing climate control, cruise control, and alloy wheels at a lower price than sportier variants. In 2024, the A4 was replaced by the A5, which now serves as Audi's direct successor to this model.
Best for: Executive car buyers seeking comfort, refinement, and efficiency; those prioritising long-distance cruising; and drivers wanting a well-equipped, quality interior without premium pricing.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging, dynamic handling; those requiring maximum practicality in an estate format; or buyers wanting the sportiest driving experience in the executive class.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A4 | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 39.4% | 4.5/5 |
| BMW 3 Series | 5/5 | 4.4/5 | 34.6% | 4.5/5 |
| Jaguar XE | 4/5 | 4.5/5 | 37.0% | 4.2/5 |
| Mercedes-Benz C-Class | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 36.8% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the A4 if: You prioritise comfort and refinement for long-distance driving, seek a well-equipped interior at competitive pricing, or want a practical saloon or estate with efficient engines and low running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You desire engaging, dynamic handling like the BMW 3 Series, require maximum estate practicality, or want the most aspirational badge in the executive class.
Competitive Position: The Audi A4 (2016-2024) is a strong contender in the compact executive market, offering excellent value and user satisfaction (5.0/5 rating). Whilst the BMW 3 Series edges ahead with superior driving dynamics and expert rating, the A4 surpasses it in user satisfaction and value proposition. The A4 also outperforms the Jaguar XE in overall ratings and offers better value than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Its combination of comfort, efficiency, quality interior, and competitive pricing makes it an excellent choice for buyers prioritising refinement and practicality over sporting engagement.
