Car was great, very surprised at how nippy the 30tfsi is as I drive a 2.0 litre diesel Q3 at present. Sline model has a lot of good features on it including the virtual dash and was surprisingly roomy for a smaller car. The car was competitively priced. I have a Quattro and would prefer a Q2 quattro, this is only reason I was put off as the one I test drove was a front wheel drive.

The Q2 is to expensive for what you get compared to other small cars in the same category. You are definitely paying for the badge

Lovely compact car, drive beautifully and smoothly. All u need is there ,SatNav,speed control, parking sensors, cruise control,-nothing too much,- nice interior, good size boot space.,maybe only issue is the space at the back seat, as its compact is a bit tight.otherwise its a lovely car.

Audi Q2 (2016-2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| The interior is a cut above | Cramped rear seats and modest boot space |
| Most engines are fuel efficient | Firmer ride of S Line models |
| Quirky styling makes a change from Audi's usual conservatism | It's an expensive used buy |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q2 (2016-2025) is a stylishly unconventional compact SUV that has become one of Audi's best-selling models. Its bold, creased exterior design departs from Audi's typically conservative approach, featuring a prominent grille and striking proportions that appeal to buyers seeking something different. The cabin exemplifies Audi's renowned quality, with dignified materials, excellent fit and finish, and intuitive controls. The MMI dial-controlled infotainment system, complemented by physical buttons for essential functions, proves less distracting than touchscreen alternatives. Connectivity is comprehensive, with DAB, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto all standard.
Practicality is adequate for urban living and school runs, though rear legroom and boot space lag behind some rivals like the BMW X1. Engine options span efficient petrol and diesel units, with the 35 TDI achieving up to 50.4mpg and the 35 TFSI manual returning 47.9mpg. Running costs are competitive, with strong residual values offsetting the premium purchase price. The SQ2 hot variant offers 295bhp for those seeking more thrills, though its running costs are considerably higher. Production ends in 2025 with no direct replacement planned.
Best for: Buyers seeking premium badge appeal with stylish design, those prioritising interior quality and ease of use, and drivers wanting an efficient compact SUV for urban and suburban driving.
Not ideal for: Those needing maximum rear seat space or boot capacity, buyers on a tight budget seeking mainstream alternatives, or drivers expecting dynamic driving characteristics.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi Q2 | 4/5 | 4.0/5 | 35.8% | 4.3/5 |
| Volkswagen T-Roc | 4/5 | 4.5/5 | 35.7% | 4.3/5 |
| Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 36.2% | 4.4/5 |
| MINI Countryman | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 34.1% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Q2 if: You value premium interior quality and intuitive controls, seek distinctive styling that stands out from conservative rivals, or want an efficient compact SUV with strong residual values.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum rear seat and boot space, prioritise the lowest purchase price, or expect engaging driving dynamics from your SUV.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q2 holds its own in the competitive compact SUV segment, matching rivals on expert ratings whilst offering superior interior quality and distinctive design. The Volkswagen T-Roc provides similar value and practicality as a corporate cousin, whilst the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class and MINI Countryman score slightly higher with users. However, the Q2's premium cabin, efficient engines, and strong residual values make it a compelling choice for buyers willing to pay a premium for quality and style. Its final year of production in 2025 adds urgency for those seeking this distinctive model.
