| Competent handling and a comfortable ride | The 2 Series is quite a pricey used car |
Quick Summary
The BMW 2 Series (2014-2021) is a remarkably versatile range that offers four distinct variants to suit different buyer needs. Whether you choose the glamorous two-door coupe or convertible, or the practical five-seat Active Tourer or seven-seat Gran Tourer, you're assured of impeccable interior quality with lush materials and solid build. All variants share the desirable BMW badge and deliver a polished driving experience with sharp handling, decent ride comfort, and good refinement. The coupe offers 390 litres of boot space, whilst the Active Tourer provides 468 litres with flexible seating arrangements.
Across the range, you'll find excellent standard equipment including automatic climate control, iDrive infotainment with a 6.5-inch colour display, Bluetooth connectivity, and alloy wheels. Engine options span efficient diesels returning over 50mpg to powerful petrol variants, with the Active Tourer uniquely offering a plug-in hybrid option. Whilst the BMW 2 Series commands premium pricing as a used car, it remains competitively priced against other premium-badged alternatives and delivers comparable running costs. The diverse nature of the range ensures there's a 2 Series to suit every taste and requirement.
Best for: Buyers seeking premium badge appeal with versatile options, those wanting impeccable interior quality and refined driving dynamics, and customers who value choice between sporty coupes and practical MPVs.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking affordable used cars, those needing spacious third-row seating, or drivers prioritising maximum boot space over premium quality.

Consider alternatives if: You're budget-conscious seeking affordable used cars, need spacious third-row seating, or prioritise maximum boot space over premium quality.
Competitive Position: The BMW 2 Series (2014-2021) stands as a strong premium contender in the used market, offering unmatched versatility with four distinct body styles. Whilst the Toyota GT86 appeals to driving enthusiasts and the Audi A3 provides strong value, the 2 Series delivers superior interior quality and a broader range of options.
