The Ford Fiesta consistently stands out for its sleek design, reliability, and value for money across all model years. Owners appreciate its spacious feel and low running costs, making it a great option for budget-conscious drivers. However, some are let down by its lack of power compared to larger vehicles, and a few mention a desire for more cargo space.

A really great small car! It looks smart, it handles well & has all the important features - air con, easily visible display dials & smooth gear ratios - for a comfortable, safe & enjoyable drive

This car (titanium model) was bought for my granddaughter and it is perfect for her. Despite it's age the car runs extremely well and is fully loaded with all sorts of goodies e.g. automatic running lights, auto wipers, remote locking, blue tooth, phone link and when you switch off lights come on in the footwells etc I think the car is great value and we are very pleased with it.

Just a shame it didn’t have reversing camera and a spare wheel or tyre repair kit included. Otherwise a nice neat tidy car with good audio equipment. Included.

Ford Fiesta (2008-2017) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Comfortable and entertaining drive | Not quite as reliable as a Hyundai i20 |
| Excellent Ecoboost engines | Underpowered entry-level 1.25-litre engine |
| Low fuel and insurance bills | So-so build quality |
Quick Summary
The Ford Fiesta Mk6 (2008-2017) is Britain's best-selling supermini, renowned for delivering a near-perfect blend of comfort and engaging handling that shames many cars costing significantly more. This sixth-generation model offers a 290-litre boot, one of the largest in its class, with 60/40 split-folding rear seats for added versatility. The cabin is logically laid out with plenty of storage, and the five-door configuration provides excellent practicality for small families, whilst the three-door's longer doors and sliding front seats ease rear access.
The Fiesta excels in driving dynamics, offering taut body control, strong grip, and pin-sharp steering that make it nimble in town, settled on the motorway, and safe everywhere. A wide range of engines provides excellent compromises between performance and economy, with petrol versions achieving 40-50mpg and diesel models reaching 65-70mpg in real-world driving. The sporty ST variant with its 1.6-litre Ecoboost turbo is one of the best hot hatches available. Running costs are impressively low, with many versions qualifying for zero road tax and insurance groups typically below 20. The Titanium trim offers excellent value on the used market, combining generous equipment with affordability.
Best for: Drivers seeking an engaging and comfortable driving experience, families needing a practical town car, budget-conscious buyers, and those wanting an affordable performance option (ST).
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising premium build quality, those seeking maximum rear-seat space, or those requiring the highest reliability standards.

The Verdict
You should buy the Fiesta if: You're seeking an engaging and comfortable driving experience, need a practical town car for families, want low running costs, or desire an affordable performance option (ST).
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium build quality, require maximum rear-seat space, or demand the highest reliability standards.
Competitive Position: The Ford Fiesta (2008-2017) stands out in the supermini market for its exceptional driving dynamics and comfort, outperforming rivals like the Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Polo in handling and engagement. Whilst the Skoda Fabia edges ahead on user ratings and the Corsa offers slightly better value, the Fiesta's superior driving experience, low running costs, and excellent engine options make it the standout choice for drivers who value both practicality and enjoyment. Its widespread availability and strong used market presence ensure you'll find a well-specified example to suit your needs.
