Features of car are very good, as with most Hyundais they are a lot of car for the money. Unfortunately, this particular one was probably priced £4000 over its value as it had an extremely poor service history.

This is a really great car with lots of room for all of the family, it's well kitted out with everything that you need.

Great value for an MPV with state-of-the-art features. Like the Mercedes Vito at a cheaper price.

Hyundai i800 (2008-2019) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| One of the few cars with room for eight | Poor fuel economy |
| Lots of luggage space | Interior quality could be better |
| Cheap to buy | Huge size makes finding a parking space a challenge |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai i800 (2008-2019) is a full eight-seater van-based people carrier designed for large families needing maximum seating capacity. Based on the Hyundai iLoad van, it measures over five metres long and offers exceptional practicality with 851 litres of boot space even with all seats in place. All six rear seats are full-sized and comfortable, with good access via large sliding side doors. The interior is straightforward and well-equipped with standard air-conditioning, remote locking, and parking sensors, though materials feel budget-conscious and design changes were minimal throughout its 11-year production run.
Powered by a single 2.5-litre diesel engine available in 134bhp or 168bhp variants, the i800 drives like the van it is based on, with a commanding driving position and excellent visibility making it surprisingly easy to manoeuvre. However, fuel economy is poor at around 31mpg, and performance is leisurely. Insurance groupings are moderate at 28-35, and servicing is required every 10,000 miles. As a used purchase, the i800 represents excellent value, typically costing less than comparable rivals whilst offering superior seating and equipment levels for budget-conscious buyers.
Best for: Large families needing eight seats, buyers on a budget seeking maximum practicality and luggage space, and those prioritising seating capacity over driving dynamics.
Not ideal for: Buyers concerned about fuel consumption, those seeking premium interior quality, or drivers who struggle with large vehicle dimensions and parking challenges.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyundai i800 | 3/5 | 4.2/5 | 27.8% | 4.0/5 |
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 34.6% | 4.5/5 |
| Nissan X-Trail | 3/5 | 4.8/5 | 36.3% | 4.2/5 |
| Citroën C5 Aircross | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 34.1% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the i800 if: You need eight seats, are on a budget, and prioritise practicality and luggage space over driving dynamics and interior quality.
Consider alternatives if: You are concerned about fuel consumption, seek premium interior materials, or struggle with large vehicle dimensions.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai i800 (2008-2019) occupies a unique position in the market as one of the few genuinely affordable eight-seater options. Whilst rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and Citroën C5 Aircross offer superior build quality, more modern design, and better user ratings, they typically provide only seven seats. The i800's key advantage is its exceptional value and unmatched seating capacity for budget-conscious large families. However, its poor fuel economy, dated interior, and van-based handling mean it's best suited to buyers prioritising practicality and affordability over refinement and efficiency.
