Excellent vehicle with a good range of standard features included (like rear camera, Bluetooth, cruise control). If you want front parking sensors or heated seats, get an SE Executive or Sport varient.

Previous owners have adulterated the style and the design by highlighting in lime green the distinctive interior and some exterior features I’d hate to find out what the original stylist and the original top gear three think of the modifications.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2014-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Top-notch comfort and luxury | Not as rewarding to drive as a BMW 3 Series |
| Wide choice of engines and specifications | Plug-in hybrid won't suit drivers with nowhere to charge |
| AMG models deliver spectacular performance | High running costs of AMG models |
Quick Summary
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2014-2020), known as the W205, is a compact executive saloon that prioritises comfort, refinement and civility over sportiness. Available as a saloon, estate, coupe and cabriolet, it offers something for a broad range of customers. The saloon provides 480 litres of boot space (455 litres post-facelift), whilst the estate delivers significantly more practicality with 490 litres standard and 1,510 litres with rear seats folded. The interior is thoughtfully finished with high-quality materials and sophisticated technology, including digital instrument displays on later models and comprehensive infotainment systems.
The fourth-generation C-Class is lighter and more rigid than its predecessor, making it the best-handling C-Class yet, though it remains more comfort-focused than rivals like the BMW 3 Series. A vast engine range caters to different needs, from the economical C200d diesel achieving around 50mpg in real-world driving, to the spectacular AMG C63 S with its 503bhp twin-turbo V8. The C350e plug-in hybrid offers exceptional efficiency for short-distance drivers with home charging, whilst the C43 AMG provides a potent middle ground. Running costs vary significantly depending on engine choice, though independent Mercedes specialists offer servicing savings without compromising quality.
Best for: Buyers seeking premium comfort and luxury, those wanting a wide choice of engines and specifications, and drivers interested in AMG performance variants.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising engaging driving dynamics like a BMW 3 Series, plug-in hybrid buyers without home charging facilities, or drivers concerned about high running costs of AMG models.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz C-Class | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 38.0% | 4.5/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the C-Class if: You prioritise premium comfort and luxury, want a wide choice of engines and specifications, or are interested in AMG performance variants.
Consider alternatives if: You seek engaging driving dynamics like the BMW 3 Series, lack home charging for the plug-in hybrid, or are concerned about high running costs of AMG models.
Competitive Position: The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2014-2020) is a strong contender in the compact executive saloon market, delivering top-notch comfort and luxury with a vast engine range to suit different needs. Whilst the BMW 3 Series edges ahead for driving engagement and the Audi A4 offers slick styling, the C-Class excels in refinement and effortless ease of use. Its wide variety of body styles, from practical estates to stylish coupes and cabriolets, provides flexibility that rivals struggle to match. For buyers prioritising long-distance comfort and sophisticated technology over outright sportiness, the C-Class represents an excellent choice in the premium used market.
