Nissan Note (2013-2017) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| More spacious and practical than a conventional supermini | Some safety kit was reserved for upper trim levels |
| Economical to run | Not as reliable as you'd expect |
| Comfortable ride and handling | A Ford B-Max is more fun to drive |
Quick Summary
The Nissan Note (2013-2017) is a second-generation compact MPV that blends supermini characteristics with family-friendly spaciousness. Built in Sunderland, it offers a practical interior with features like a sliding rear bench and wide-opening rear doors, making it versatile for passengers and cargo. While its driving position might not suit all, visibility is good, and it handles urban driving well with a comfortable ride.
Engine choices are simple, with a 1.2-litre petrol (including a supercharged DIG-S option) and an economical 1.5 dCi diesel, all offering low running costs and cheap tax. Despite facing competition and some confusion over its market positioning, the Note provides excellent value as a used car, offering economical motoring and a spacious, practical cabin for budget-conscious buyers.
Best for: Drivers seeking a spacious and practical compact car, those prioritising economical running costs and low tax, or families needing versatile interior space.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising sporty driving dynamics (like the Ford B-Max), those who need advanced safety kit as standard across all trims, or those expecting class-leading reliability.

4.5 Overall rating
(27 reviews)Larger than I thought. Roomy inside. Well fitted with satnav, bluetooth and 12v outputs. Seats adjustable and configurable. Heater/Air con. Many features automated (rain detector, lights, wipers). Boot has 2 layers (removeable dividers). Excellent low emissions and fuel use. Readouts such as how many miles before needs petrol, fuel consumption. Still finding my way around. V Good AM/FM radio (but no LW or DAB note) . Overall v pleased.
this car is perfect for us, with it being a little higher than we are used to, it is so much easier for us to get in and out of . Very roomy inside and plenty of boot space .condition of car is great, love our new car.
Car was not worth the money. Bodywork average. Driver seat torn .
