Great cars-and a style I have never tired of. The one to have would be the R style but I am happy with our petrol lower performance model-half the price and cheap to insure

It has a sleek appearance. It has nippy performance. It has plenty of driver room for a sporty car. You cant drive with the top down like a BMW Z3 or Z4. But the roof is more solid!!!!

Peugeot RCZ (2009-2015) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Entertaining to drive | Cramped rear seats |
| Surprisingly practical for a coupe | Some reliability issues |
| The RCZ R is very quick | The looks aren't to all tastes |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot RCZ (2009-2015) is a stylish 2+2 coupe that defied expectations when it arrived as a production car virtually unchanged from its concept form. Based on the Peugeot 308 hatchback, it features striking design elements including a distinctive double-bubble roof and silver-finished roof arches. The RCZ offers three petrol engines (THP156, THP200, and the potent RCZ R with 266bhp) and a 2.0-litre HDi diesel option, all delivering engaging driving dynamics. With a 384-litre boot and fold-flat rear seats, it provides surprising practicality for a coupe, though rear passenger space is genuinely cramped.
Running costs are reasonable thanks to shared components with mass-produced models, with the diesel achieving 54mpg and even the RCZ R managing 44mpg. A 2013 facelift brought subtle updates including a revised front grille. Whilst some reliability concerns exist, the RCZ's distinctive styling and entertaining handling make it an attractive proposition on the second-hand market. The ultra-rare RCZ R is a proper sports car, though only 300 were sold in the UK. With approximately 12,000 RCZs sold domestically, finding a well-maintained example is achievable for buyers seeking something special.
Best for: Drivers seeking a stylish, entertaining coupe with surprising practicality, those wanting something distinctive and different from mainstream rivals, and enthusiasts interested in the high-performance RCZ R variant.
Not ideal for: Buyers requiring spacious rear seating, those prioritising maximum reliability, or those indifferent to eye-catching styling and design flair.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peugeot RCZ | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 28.6% | 4.1/5 |
| Audi TT | 4/5 | 4.5/5 | 29.2% | 4.3/5 |
| Alpine A110 | 5/5 | 4.4/5 | 33.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Volkswagen Scirocco | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 32.4% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the RCZ if: You're seeking a stylish, entertaining coupe with surprising practicality, want something distinctive and different from mainstream rivals, or are interested in the high-performance RCZ R variant.
Consider alternatives if: You require spacious rear seating, prioritise maximum reliability, or are indifferent to eye-catching styling and design flair.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot RCZ (2009-2015) stands out as a distinctive choice in the sports coupe market, offering engaging driving dynamics and striking design that rivals like the Audi TT and Volkswagen Scirocco cannot match. Whilst the Alpine A110 edges ahead on expert rating and value, the RCZ delivers comparable user satisfaction and a more affordable entry point. Its surprising practicality, entertaining handling, and the availability of the potent RCZ R variant make it an excellent choice for buyers seeking character and style. However, potential reliability concerns warrant a pre-purchase inspection by a specialist.
