The Renault Kadjar has generally received positive feedback from owners across all model years, particularly for its comfort, spacious interior, and impressive performance, especially noted with the 1.3tce engine. Many drivers appreciate the smooth ride it offers, making it a good value for money. However, some concerns have been raised regarding rear visibility and the lack of certain features in lower specifications, such as parking sensors and cameras. The car drives better than expected. I was impressed with the performance of the 1.5 diesel engine. It's comfortable and a nice drive. I think some people might miss the cd player but I prefer the radio so it's not a problem to me. In all the car is better than I expected. I would definitely recommend the Renault Kadjar.

Very comfortable, great drive and very spacious. Good milage per gallon and lots of features in the cab. Doesn't have the in cab storage that I was used to but I can get over that. Similar to the Qashqai but in my opinion better.

Renault Kadjar (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Keenly priced as a used car | Dull to drive |
| Spacious and practical interior | Bland interior design |
| Excellent fuel economy | Infotainment system is too fiddly |
Quick Summary
The Renault Kadjar is a spacious and practical family SUV that shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Qashqai. Every model offers a generous boot of up to 527 litres and comfortable seating for four adults, with room for three at a push. The interior is well-thought-out with plenty of storage options, though it lacks the versatility of rivals like the Skoda Karoq, with rear seats that split and fold rather than slide. The Kadjar feels somewhat soulless to drive, with earlier models suffering from a slightly bouncy ride, though smaller-wheeled versions with softer tyres are more desirable.
Engine options have evolved over time, starting with turbocharged 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre diesels and a 1.2-litre petrol, before a 1.6-litre petrol turbo was added in 2017. A 2018 overhaul introduced two 1.3-litre petrols of 138bhp and 158bhp. Fuel economy is a strong suit, with efficient diesels achieving around 60mpg and petrol models reaching 40-45mpg in real-world driving. Tax costs are particularly low for pre-April 2017 models, and servicing is affordable through Renault's fixed-price menu. Most engines feature a timing chain, reducing long-term maintenance costs. As a used car, the Kadjar represents excellent value for budget-conscious buyers prioritising space and practicality.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, functional, and affordable SUV with low running costs, and buyers prioritising value over driving dynamics.
Not ideal for: Those wanting an engaging driving experience, premium interior quality, or an intuitive infotainment system.

The Verdict
You should buy the Kadjar if: You're seeking a spacious, functional, and affordable family SUV with low running costs, and value practicality over driving dynamics.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise an engaging driving experience, premium interior quality, or an intuitive infotainment system.
Competitive Position: The Renault Kadjar is a sensible choice in the small family SUV market, offering excellent value and practicality at a keenly priced point. Whilst it may not match rivals like the Nissan Qashqai for driving engagement or the Peugeot 3008 for interior refinement, its spacious interior, impressive fuel economy, and affordable running costs make it highly appealing for budget-conscious families. The Kadjar's straightforward, honest approach to family motoring, combined with its competitive pricing on the used market, positions it as a tempting option for those prioritising space and value over premium feel.
