The Renault Kadjar has generally received positive feedback from owners across all model years, particularly for its comfort, spacious interior, and impressive performance, especially noted with the 1.3tce engine. Many drivers appreciate the smooth ride it offers, making it a good value for money. However, some concerns have been raised regarding rear visibility and the lack of certain features in lower specifications, such as parking sensors and cameras. The car drives better than expected. I was impressed with the performance of the 1.5 diesel engine. It's comfortable and a nice drive. I think some people might miss the cd player but I prefer the radio so it's not a problem to me. In all the car is better than I expected. I would definitely recommend the Renault Kadjar.

Very comfortable, great drive and very spacious. Good milage per gallon and lots of features in the cab. Doesn't have the in cab storage that I was used to but I can get over that. Similar to the Qashqai but in my opinion better.

Renault Kadjar (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Keenly priced as a used car | Dull to drive |
| Spacious and practical interior | Bland interior design |
| Excellent fuel economy | Infotainment system is too fiddly |
Quick Summary
The Renault Kadjar is a spacious and practical family SUV that shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Qashqai. Every model offers a generous 527-litre boot and comfortable seating for five, with well-thought-out storage solutions throughout. The interior is functional rather than inspiring, with a somewhat bland design and a fiddly infotainment system that lacks the refinement of its best rivals. However, the Kadjar's tempting value proposition and excellent fuel economy make it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers prioritising practicality over driving engagement.
The engine range has evolved over the years, starting with turbocharged 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre diesels and a 1.2-litre petrol, with a 1.6-litre petrol turbo added in 2017. A 2018 overhaul introduced two 1.3-litre petrols. Fuel economy is impressive, with diesel versions achieving around 60mpg and petrol models delivering 40-45mpg in real-world driving. Running costs are low thanks to efficient engines, reasonable servicing costs (£169 for minor, £269 for full service), and most models featuring timing chains. Tax is particularly attractive on pre-April 2017 models, with some versions costing just £20 annually.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a spacious, practical family SUV with low running costs and excellent value for money.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising engaging driving dynamics, premium interior quality, or intuitive infotainment systems.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict
You should buy the Kadjar if: You're seeking a spacious, practical family SUV with excellent value for money and low running costs, prioritising practicality over driving engagement.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise engaging driving dynamics, premium interior quality, or intuitive infotainment systems.
Competitive Position: The Renault Kadjar is a sensible choice in the small family SUV market, offering exceptional value and practicality. Whilst it trails rivals like the Seat Ateca and Nissan Qashqai in expert ratings and driving dynamics, its keenly priced used market position, spacious interior, and excellent fuel economy make it highly attractive for budget-conscious buyers. The Kadjar's low running costs and straightforward reliability represent compelling reasons to choose it over more expensive alternatives, particularly if value is your primary concern.
