The Black SZ3 I eventually bought was found to be a very nice drive. Very responsive steering and good handling, suspension firm but comfortable, “needs to be with potholes everywhere”. £35 road Tax helps😀, my last 23yr old car was £315🤨. All good now👍

Fantastic small car, I would compare it to the mini but it is better. Great all round vision, well balanced & great spec.

Suzuki Swift (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fun to drive | Not as cheap as it once was |
| Low running costs | Small boot for the supermini class |
| Well equipped as standard | Rivals offer more passenger space |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki Swift (2024-present) is a straightforward, petrol-powered supermini that represents a refreshingly simple proposition in an increasingly complex market. Now in its fourth generation, it uses the same platform as its predecessor but benefits from a comprehensive update. Weighing just 949kg to 1,037kg depending on specification, the Swift prioritises agility and efficiency over sheer space. With a 265-litre boot (expandable to 589 litres with rear seats folded), it's smaller than rivals like the Skoda Fabia and Vauxhall Corsa, but offers genuine driving enjoyment and impressive practicality for everyday use.
Powered by a single 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82bhp with mild hybrid assistance, the Swift achieves an official 64.2mpg and real-world figures around 52mpg or better. Both Motion and Ultra trims come exceptionally well equipped with heated seats, air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen with integrated satnav and smartphone integration. The Swift's firm ride and direct steering make it genuinely fun to drive, though insurance groupings of 25-28 are surprisingly high for an 82bhp budget supermini. An all-wheel-drive AllGrip option is available on the Ultra trim with manual transmission.
Best for: Drivers seeking a fun, efficient, and well-equipped supermini with low running costs, those valuing dynamic handling over maximum space, and buyers wanting simplicity and reliability.
Not ideal for: Those requiring maximum boot space, young drivers concerned about insurance costs, or buyers prioritising passenger space over driving engagement.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Swift | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 32.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Dacia Sandero | 3/5 | 4.8/5 | 36.0% | 4.2/5 |
| Skoda Fabia | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 32.2% | 4.5/5 |
| Vauxhall Corsa | 3/5 | 4.5/5 | 34.5% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Swift if: You're seeking a fun, efficient, and well-equipped supermini with low running costs, value dynamic handling over maximum space, or want simplicity and reliability.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum boot space, are concerned about insurance costs, or prioritise passenger space over driving engagement.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki Swift (2024-present) is an excellent choice in the supermini market, offering genuine driving enjoyment, impressive fuel economy, and exceptional standard equipment. Whilst it's smaller than rivals like the Skoda Fabia and Vauxhall Corsa, this is offset by its superior handling dynamics and fun-to-drive character. The Dacia Sandero offers better value for money, but the Swift delivers a more engaging driving experience. For buyers who value agility, efficiency, and a well-equipped cabin over sheer space, the Swift is genuinely one of the best options available today.
